Not a big story in a game when 4th rankedGigantes (16-17) were outscored by second ranked Cangrejeros (21-12) in Santurce 118-72 on Sunday. Santurce outrebounded Carolina 50-30 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santurce shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 59.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Carolina 's players. The winners were led by the former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) who scored that evening 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international power forward Devon Collier (203-1991, college: Oregon St.) supported him with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by point guard Evander Ortiz (180-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) did not help to save the game for Carolina . American-North Macedonian center Jacob Wiley (203-1994, college: EWU) added 10 points and 4 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santurce used an opportunity after Mayaguez lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Defending champion Carolina keeps the fourth place with 17 games lost.
